Uniforms and Equipment of the Old Army - Cavalry - Hussar Regiments - Hussar Regiment von Schill (1st Silesian) No. 4
The Hussar Regiment von Schill (1st Silesian) No. 4 had its founding date on 15 November 1741.
The unit stood in the tradition of the old Prussian hussar regiments H 1, H 4, H 6, H 7 and H 10.
The regiment was formed on 7 September 1808 in Kreutzburg, Guttentag, Gleiwitz and Ratibor.
Troop replacements (recruits) came until 1819 from Upper Silesia, thereafter from the vicinity of Breslau and Ohlau.
The garrison was most recently (1914) Ohlau.
The first regimental commander was (until 1813) Hans Ernst von Zieten, the last Gerhard von Enckevort (until 1919).
By AKO of 15 February 1824 General Field Marshal Count von Zieten was appointed chief of the regiment (he died in 1848 in Warmbrunn in Silesia).
The unit was disbanded after the First World War on 1 October 1919.
Dolman and pelisse were brown with yellow cords. The buttons were also yellow.
The trim band of the peaked cap was brown with yellow piping.
The collar patches of the coat, the kolpak and the trim cloth of the saddle cover were gold-yellow.
The formation received remounts from the depots of the Province of Prussia (as of 1877).
Incidentally, the regiment rode horses with striking colors, such as piebalds, duns, etc.
The standard was handed over on 1 October 1815 at St. Aubin d`Ecroville with the ribbon of the War Commemorative Medal 1813/15.
