The founding day of the Hussar Regiment Friedrich II of Hesse-Homburg (2nd Kurhessian) No. 14 was considered to be 23.11.1813. The regiment bore this designation from 27.01.1889.
The unit was in the tradition of the Kurhessian army.
It was established on 01.11.1866 in Kassel, Eschwege, Grebenstein and Zwehren.
The formation was carried out from the Kurhessian Hussar Regiment and the Kurhessian Garde du Corps.
The corresponding order read: "From the available formerly Kurhessian squadrons two Hussar regiments of five squadrons each are to be formed, and these regiments shall receive the designation Hussar-Regt. 13 and 14".
On 01.10.1900 the allocation of the 1st and 2nd squadrons of Mounted Jägers of the XI Army Corps took place.
The unit was finally stationed in Kassel, previously also partly in smaller towns, e.g. in Rotenburg an der Fulda and in Wilhelmshöhe.
It was assigned to the XI Army Corps (Kassel) and there formed part of the 22nd Division (Kassel) and the 22nd Cavalry Brigade (Kassel).
The last regimental commander was Paul v. Loeper.
The disbandment took place after World War I on 01.10.1919.
The replacement recruits came from the area around Kassel and Eschwege.
The Attila was dark blue with white lacing.
The kolpak of the fur cap was red.
