The regiment's founding day was January 16, 1758.

The (new) unit was raised on October 16, 1807 in Treptow a. R. and in Laukischken. In doing so, the remnants of the old Prussian Hussar Regiment von Blücher (H 8) were used.

From 1861 (until 1889) the regiment was called Pomeranian Hussar Regiment (Blücher's Hussar Regiment) No. 5.

Afterwards it bore the designation: Hussar Regiment Fürst Blücher von Wahlstatt (Pomerania) No. 5.

The regiment was dissolved after World War I on October 1, 1919.

The last peacetime garrison was Stolp in Pomerania.

The last peacetime commander was Heinrich Maß.

The unit's replacements came from Farther Pomerania.

The attilas were dark red with white lacing. The kolpak of the fur cap was dark red.
