The Hussar Regiment "Emperor Nicholas II of Russia" (1st Westphalian) No. 8 had the date of foundation March 7, 1815.
It was established on March 7, 1815 in the field before Liège.
For this, the 4th squadron from Hussar Regiment No. 2, the 2nd squadron of Hussar Regiment No. 3 and the 4th squadron of Hussar Regiment No. 6 were used.
From November 17, 1897 the unit bore the designation: Hussar Regiment "Emperor Nicholas II of Russia" (1st Westphalian No. 8).
Regimental chiefs were from 1841 Maximilian II, King of Bavaria, and from 1865 Ludwig II, King of Bavaria (until 1886).
The last regimental commander was Ehrenreich von Hanstein (February 13, 1917 until disbandment).
The garrisons were changed several times.
Until 1816 the regiment was stationed in Lüben, in 1817 in Trier, in 1820 in Düsseldorf, in 1851 in Neuhaus near Paderborn, in 1851 in Lippstadt and in 1858 finally in Neuhaus by the Senne training area and near the officer riding school in Paderborn.
The formation had a dark blue Attila with white cords.
The kolpak of the fur cap was light blue.
The unit was disbanded on October 1, 1919 after the First World War.
