Based on an original manuscript. It is evidently modeled on the History of the Clothing, Armament and Equipment of the Royal Prussian Army / By the Most Gracious Command of His Majesty ... edited by the Royal War Ministry. Compiled by Constantin Kling; Vol. 2: The cuirassier and dragoon regiments from the beginning of the 18th century until the reorganization of the army in 1808.

The Age and Length of Service of the Old Prussian Soldier
Looking at today’s circumstances one is easily tempted to imagine the Old Prussian soldier as a relatively young person. That this does not correspond to reality is shown by the surviving source material. Contemporary documents rather attest a comparatively high age and length of service and show that there were quite a lot of old men in the regiments.

This article presents the copperplate series described below of the Prussian army in the year 1759. The depiction is based on an original reproducing photo series presumably from the eighties (probably made by Otto Quenstedt). This is in the possession of the author.
