The regiment was established on 16 October 1807 in Kranz in East Prussia. Parent troop elements were the remnants of the Gensdarmes Regiment (K 10), the Cuirassier Regiment von Beeren (K 2), the Regiment von Reitzenstein (K 7), and the Carabinier Regiment (K 11).

As the foundation day, with reference to the prehistory of the parent troop elements, 20 December 1691 is recognized.

The peacetime garrison was the town of Brandenburg an der Havel.

The unit was disbanded on 1 October 1919.

The regiment's facing color was Russian blue (dark blue).

The buttons were yellow.

In addition to the white koller (made of kersey), the cuirassiers also wore a dark blue tunic with Swedish sleeve cuffs.

A braid in the facing color was worn on the collar and on the sleeve cuffs of the tunic.

The unit carried on the shoulder straps of the koller and of the tunic, and on officers' epaulettes, a yellow name cipher with a crown.

As a particular feature, the regiment had helmets made of tombac; the scale chains were also made of tombac.

The fittings were of nickel silver and bore the line eagle.
