Napoleonic Uniforms in Steel Engravings from the Years 1835 - 1838
France Militaire. HISTOIRE DES ARMÉES FRANCAISES DE TERRE ET DE MER DE 1792 A 1833. Paris 1835 - 1838. Multi-volume — 5-volume work. Editor: A. Joseph Hugo (11/15/1798 in Paris; † 02/07/1855). He was the elder brother of Victor Hugo. The series deals with the Napoleonic era and is richly illustrated (824 steel engraving plates, of which 111 are maps). The plates show uniforms, battles, naval engagements, portraits, maps, plans and numerous city views. Subsequently, a selection of uniform illustrations from the aforementioned work is presented, based on the corresponding original steel engravings.
