Hessian Uniforms in the Years 1776 and 1786
The Landgraviate (from 1803 Electorate) of Hesse-Kassel was formed in 1567 through an inheritance division of the Landgraviate of Hesse. Of the four territories created in this context, Hesse-Kassel and Hesse-Darmstadt remained over time. The lordship of Hanau (Hanau-Münzenberg part) fell to Hesse-Kassel after the extinction of the Counts of Hanau.
